Volunteering on the Farm

If you are interested in helping the farm or organicARTS, there are two ways you can do this:-
West Town Farm is a member of WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). This is an organisation that links up individuals wanting to volunteer on organic farms with organic farmers looking for volunteers. WWOOF is an exchange - in return for volunteer help, WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic lifestyles.
At West Town Farm we can take up to three WWOOFers at a time, but we only have accommodation for one, in a small caravan. Others are welcome to stay on the farm if they can provide their own tent or campervan. All accommodation is self-catering and we ask for a minimum commitment of one month. We ask for 25 hours of work per week, in return for simple accommodation, a weekly organic vegetable box and all other reasonable food needs. This 25 hours is made up of 20 hours of farm work (feeding and bedding up animals, cleaning up, helping to move animals, vegetable planting / harvesting etc, depending on the time of year) plus 5 hours of work for Organic Arts (helping at events and open days, preparing activities and materials etc, depending on Organic Arts’ needs at the time).
To apply you need to be a member of WWOOF please apply through the WWOOF application process.
West Town Farm - any wwoofers please get in touch with Jenny.
There is no accommodation with this role so it’s something you can do if you live locally. There are no hard and fast rules – any help is appreciated.
We would like help in the café at monthly Open Days on Sundays and people who would like to develop creative community projects.
At the moment there is a group working on the Community Garden twice weekly and new volunteers are welcome to join in if they arrange this by contacting us first. Alternatively you could help out with any organicARTS work at a time to suit you, so do contact organicARTS to find out how you can get involved.
